Show Summary
🤠 A Fistful of Puppets
April 5 – 27, 2019
Howdy, partner. In A Fistful of Puppets, the All Puppet Players saddled up, loaded their prop guns, and took dead aim at the western genre—only to blow it to hell in the most gloriously felted fashion imaginable.
This wild west parody leaned less on Fistful of Dollars and more on The Quick and the Dead, if Sam Raimi directed it while surrounded by puppets, dust, and audience members yelling “YEE-HAW.” A quick-draw competition brought out homicidal maniacs, twisted outlaws, and a mysterious stranger with a vendetta and a six-shooter full of secrets.
We went big with this one: one of our largest casts ever, a two-story set, live music, and original songs that sounded suspiciously like famous western themes (but legally distinct, thank you very much). Add in a half-human, half-feline nightmare—channeling full Heavyside Layer energy—and you had yourself a showdown for the ages.
With puppets and humans mixing onstage, this show was a boot-stomping blend of sight gags, shootouts, musical numbers, audience participation, and pure puppet anarchy.
It wasn’t just a puppet western—it was the weirdest thing on stage since Paint Your Wagon… and that’s saying something.
